AZ Tax Credits

If you are an Arizona taxpayer, you are eligible to receive a tax credit for your donation to a Qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization (QFCO)- like More Than a Bed! How does it work?

The Arizona QFCO tax credit reduces the total amount of tax liability owed to the State on a dollar-for-dollar basis.  For every dollar an individual claims as a tax credit, their tax liability is reduced by a dollar. To benefit from tax credits while supporting More Than a Bed:

  1. Donate to More Than a Bed (QFCO Code: 10032)
  2. Keep your donation receipt
  3. When you file your Arizona state taxes, the tax credit is claimed on Form 352.

Donation Limits to Receive Tax Credits (2025)

  • Individuals: Up to $618
  • Married couples filing jointly: Up to $1,234

Please consult your tax expert before making any decisions.

Please Note:  The QFCO is not the only credit allowed under the Arizona Tax Credit Program!  There are five different qualified areas eligible for a tax credit (Qualified Charitable Organization, Qualified Foster Care Charitable Organization, Public Schools, School Tuition Organization, Arizona Military Relief Fund), and you may be able to claim each of them in the same tax year. Each have different requirements and limits. Married couples can actually reduce their State liability by more than $5,000.00 if they were to contribute the maximum amount to each of these credits.  To learn more about AZ Tax Credits, visit AZ.gov/tax-credits

New Federal Tax Provisions

Federal legislation passed this year introduces new tax provisions that make 2025 a strategic time to give.  The legislation introduces new provisions that shape charitable giving in meaningful ways.  Because several provisions of this new legislation takes effect beginning with the 2025 tax year, and have an impact on subsequent tax years, it is essential to take note of these changes and evaluate how they may influence your giving this year.

Below is an overview  of Federal Tax changes that may shape your charitable giving:

For the 2025-2026 tax year, allows expanded charitable giving for non-itemizers. With the introduction of this provision, all households (regardless of whether they take the standard deductions, or they itemize) are now eligible to receive a Federal tax credit up to $1000 for single filers, or $2000 for married couples filing jointly for qualified charitable contributions.

Beginning next year (2026 tax year), the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) places new limits on deductions for itemizers in the top tax brackets. The new legislation caps the tax benefits of itemized charitable deductions at 35%, even for those in the 37% or higher brackets. In other words, beginning next year, these high-income filers donating $1,000 would receive only a $350 deduction instead of the current $370.

Donors in higher tax brackets who are considering a significant philanthropic gift may want to think about accelerating their gift in 2025 to maximize their deductions under the current marginal rate before the new cap goes into effect.

Also effective in the 2026 tax year, there will be a new floor on deductions for itemizers in the top tax brackets. Itemizers in these brackets who make charitable contributions will only be able to claim a tax deduction for qualified contributions that exceed 0.5% of their adjusted gross income (AGI). For example, a couple with an AGI of $300,000 could only deduct charitable donations in excess of $1500.

We want every child to feel valued as they shop for items in our Resource Center. This means providing them with clothing they will feel proud to wear and items that are safe to use. To this end, we ask that:

  • Donated clothing is free from noticeable stains, rips, or broken closures.
  • Donated items are in working condition with no broken pieces or parts.

Many of the children we serve have experienced violence in their past. To be sensitive to these issues and to provide clean, safe items that are acceptable for all children, we do not accept the following:

  • Guns of any kind (including Nerf guns and squirt guns)
  • Weapons of any kind (including toy swords, nunchucks, or any toy weapon)
  • Pharmaceuticals or medication of any kind
  • Used underwear (bras in good condition are okay)
  • Opened or used hygiene products
  • Alcohol of any kind
  • Expired or perishable food products
  • Used mattresses due to the risk of bed bugs  (while we can not accept them in the warehouse, we do have a way you can donate directly to our families. Email grace@morethanabed.org for information)

Due to limited space in our Warehouse, we can not receive the donation of large items like full-size beds, box springs, entertainment centers, dining tables with chairs, etc. However, we do have a way you can donate items like these directly to our families. Please email grace@morethanabed.org for information.

While we rely heavily on in-kind donations, many products we must purchase new on a regular basis, like diapers, wipes, hygiene items, and other household essentials. Items on the registry are updated monthly and reflect what is most needed at that time. If there are other items you would like to purchase as well, please feel free to do so. The items you purchase will go directly to the children and families we serve!
