Who We Are

When a child is removed from their home and placed with a family member, foster family, or in a congregate care home, they often arrive with nothing more than the clothes on their back. More Than a Bed provides essential items—beds, clothing, shoes, diapers, toys, and more—at no cost to children and families. This support not only helps ease the financial stress of caregiving, it helps a child to feel seen and valued.

In 2024, there were nearly 10,000 children in foster care in Arizona, yet under 2,000 licensed foster homes meaning that many foster families provide care for more than one child. Similarly, kinship caregivers often welcome sibling sets into their homes. Caring for multiple children, while important and rewarding, can create unexpected challenges for the families and opportunity barriers for the children. More Than a Bed comes alongside caregivers to help provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can be cared for, have their basic needs met, and grow to their fullest potential.

Our Facilities

Thanks to a generous anonymous benefactor who has donated not one, not two, but THREE warehouses over the past 11 years, More Than a Bed has been able to expand in response to the growing need for foster care support services in Arizona.

Warehouse 1- Resource Center

Our 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse is set up like a retail store, with new or like-new items, allowing families and children to shop with dignity and ease. Baby items, clothing of all sizes, shoes, household items, school supplies, toys, bikes, and more…nearly every essential item a child would need can be found in our Resource Center. Are you a foster, kinship, or adoptive family in need of these resources? Visit our Getting Started page to learn more.

Warehouse 2- Donation Center

More Than a Bed relies heavily on in-kind donations and the generosity of this community. Would you like to help a foster, kinship, or adoptive family? Have your children grown out of clothes, shoes, or toys that still have a lot of life left in them? Are you doing a décor refresh and have household items others can use? Please consider donating your gently used items to MTaB.

Warehouse 3- Enrichment Center

Children in foster care often face more educational and social challenges than their peers and require additional support to thrive in life. Our Enrichment Center (opening 2026) will be a safe and supportive space where the youth and families we serve can participate in essential experiences and build meaningful connections that will help shape their future. Programs will include opportunities like martial arts, drama, and robotics classes, as well as life-skills classes and employment resources for youth aging out of foster care. The exterior is completed, and we are waiting on city permits to continue build out of the interior. Stay tuned for updates!
