After running her own recruiting business in Manhattan, Grace returned to Tucson in 2007, joined New Life Bible Fellowship and began coordinating the Helping Hands Ministry. As a result, she became acquainted with foster families within New Life and the foster care system which all led to this point. God’s Word tells us that He knows the plans He has for us, plans to give us hope and a future.
Paul is the Director of Business Development with GR Financial Group LLC. Paul has lived in Tucson since 1999. He holds a B.A. in English from Concordia – New York and an MBA from the University of Arizona. Paul and his wife Donna, with their blended family of five children, were drawn to More Than a Bed by the group’s energy and deep commitment to meeting the needs of the rapidly expanding foster child/family community in Arizona.
Jessica is a double Wildcat, having graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and J.D. from The University of Arizona. Jessica and her sister were both adopted as infants, Jessica from Korea and her sister from China. However, it was not until their brother joined the family at age 8 from foster care, that her interest in child welfare was spurred. Jessica is privileged to be able to help build forever families as an adoption attorney. It was her history, her family’s history, and her passion to help children which brought her to More Than a Bed.
Director of Behavioral Health at MHC Healthcare since 2014. Jon holds a BS in Psychology from Pennsylvania State and a MSW from ASU. Jon is an effective team leader and a strong analytical thinker with exceptional communication skills. He contributes direction, guidance and leadership to the MTaB board. Jon has previous experience as a social worker and a team lead for Trinity Foster Care in Riverside, CA.
Prior to marrying his wife Jody, Eli was a single father of two small children. Raising their family, they felt that they also grappled with many of the same struggles as the foster families served by More Than a Bed. After a 45-year career, the past 17 as a consultant leading corporations in new business acquisitions, Eli is now dedicated to pursuing a vocation of significance, focused on meeting the needs of children and families in foster care.
Kelly graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting. She is a licensed certified public accountant who has spent 18 years with BeachFlieschman in the firm’s nonprofit taxation services group. She also spent two years as the CFO of Arizona’s Children Association. Kelly specializes in tax planning and compliance for nonprofits.
Rachael graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Business from the University of Arizona. She excels in the area of Human Resources as she has held multiple positions throughout her career. She has received awards for her service to the Tucson community, has become a mentor and worked with Arizona’s Children Association. Her calling to More Than a Bed stems from her love and commitment to give children a chance to grow and flourish as she did with her own.
Lara received her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and chose to dedicate herself to volunteerism and philanthropy, rather than returning to a traditional career as a branch manager for Enterprise Holdings. Lara is particularly passionate about the ever-growing issues in Tucson and the surrounding communities. She has served as the volunteer coordinator for a local candidate, fundraised and volunteered for numerous local non-profits. During her time at HOPE Animal Shelter, she completed various projects including a remodel, raised considerable contributions, community outreach and planned many successful events. At this time, she is an independent contractor for sales and marketing at Bustos Media and volunteer at Sister Jose’s Women’s Center and a member of 100+ Women Who Care.
MTaB is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific, and literary purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and this corporation shall receive, administer, expend, and disburse funds exclusively for such purposes. Without limitation of the foregoing, this corporation shall have the following specific purposes:
(1) To provide resources and support, including tangible items, educational, social, and recreational support, for foster, kinship and adoptive families and their children, and to connect these families to such resources and the community.
(2) To educate and inspire the public to provide support for foster, kinship and adoptive families and encourage the community to become or remain licensed to foster children.
(3) To lessen the burdens on society relating to the provision of support for foster, kinship and adoptive families and the promotion of their welfare.
(4) To have such other purposes within the general charitable, educational, scientific, and literary purposes of this corporation as may be determined by the Board of Directors of this corporation.
All services, benefits, opportunities, and the rights to use facilities, provided by this corporation shall be furnished on a nonprofit basis and shall be designed to provide support and resources for foster, kinship and adoptive families, including linking such families to community resources, and to educate the public about these families and encourage the public to become or remain licensed to foster children. Notwithstanding any provision herein, in all of its policies and procedures, this corporation shall adhere to a policy of equal opportunity and shall conduct all of its activities and make available all of its services, benefits, opportunities, and facilities in a manner that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, age, handicap, or disability.
